Most companies that offer an “ASP” solution simply offer you access to their application on a remote server. This will generally be very cheap as in fact you are getting very little for your money and you will be in a situation where there is no integration with your desktop applications. For example, you will still be picking up mail to your local pc whilst viewing your database “on –line”.
So, if you move to a different office or wish to work from home you won’t be able to see your mail or your word docs, excel spreadsheets etc etc. Nor will you be able to synchronise your diary with your outlook diary and then your phone or PDA.
In general you will also be responsible for backing up and making sure your data is secure both on the “ASP” and on all your local machines.
